Honda sonnet

I crashed your Honda in the parking lot,
I backed up and did not apply the brake.
I didn’t mean to it was a mistake.
It never even moved out of its spot.
Your Honda and the truck next to it caught
Their fenders and I did a double take.
To you the news I did not want to break,
For fear that you would be very distraught.
I called your work number and said “hello”
At first you were happy to hear from me.
“I’ve crashed your car into someone’s blue truck.”
You did no longer sound at all mellow.
I almost said something like “c’est la vie”
But thought it better not to push my luck.
