I can't stop looking at these things! Great work; I would really like to see these in person. I still can't figure this site out. I keep commenting on people's profiles and it just shows up in the blog entries on my page. I thought I'd try commenting on the artwork. Are you even getting any of these messages?
Sammy "Grilo"
These were the first pieces I experimented with when I decided to officially choose my career as a sculptor. I discovered them in a museum in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was an exhibit titled "The Devine and the Grotesque" the proprotional studies of Leonardo da Vinci. As descriptive as the sketches were, I felt a stron urge to create them in three dimensions. In doing so, I feel like I am discovering the true charracters that Leonardo used as models or inspiration. His concept was to better understand what constitutes "beauty" by studying the "grotesque". I am producing these bronze versions of the work in a limited edition casting of 75 of each piece.
