Roadside Memorials
Markers, commemorating the dead, placed by the side of the road where the event took place have captured my notice for many years. Originally it was in Mexico that I saw them. They have appeared increasingly throughout the Southwest and eventually I began to photograph them in Texas. Thanks to the lack of a shoulder along the highways in Mexico I have yet to obtain any photos from there. Most take the form of a simple cross but some are elaborate memorials.
