“Procession”

“Procession” is a translation of a Song Dynasty Chinese painting, Gong Kai’s “Procession of the Demon Catcher”, into a modern work of sculpture. The meaning of the work creates a bridge between tradition and modernity. The sculptural figures seem to walk out of the painting and into our world while the viewer enters the work to go back in time.
“People are living ghosts and ghosts are people passed”. The sculpture juxtaposes the dead with the living as if to say that life is a transcendental journey and to remind us to pursue the meaning of life.
