Artist's Comments:
Okay, this is my favourite piece so far. I've paid too much attention on it, I think this is a kind of manifesto of my artistic expression so far. I've even done some studies for it! lol and I do hate doing studies for paintings XD
Anyways, I titled it "After the Supper at Emaús" because I took as a composition model the "Supper at Emaus" by Caravaggio.( [link] ) I tried to give a modern look to the idea, including my ideas of religion and art. I also included some friends and not so friends in this, the girl in the centre, posing as Jesús is Eugenia :iconeugeniaromero: whom I feel was the one to act as Jesus (lol). I don't really know how I managed to paint her without using any photos as reference, she even said the girl looked as herself.
I also want to point out that the girl's identity is not so relevant but the boy, the owner of that (sexy? xD) back, will be covered in a halo of mistery until the end of the world (?). No, I want to leave it to your imagination, cause I do had a reference when I painted him.
The religious ideas I had in mind were the respect towards women, the idea of Equality between both women and men, something that clearly didn't exist when Jesus was still alive. And the attacks that catholic religion had to suffer through years, represented by the books. Anyways, I'll let most of the 'hidden' symbols to you XD I love mistery XD
