HELLO COMMUNITY
before I dive off the deep end- amy comments out there? Do traditional notions of Beauty still mean anything to any of you ? Eros? Is beauty any different than aesthetics? How about the traditional "Sublime"? Does "sublime" have new meaning today? Is art dead? Or is art more alive than ever before?
Anything else anyone wants to talk about?

Hello Richard! It is nice to know that I'm not alone in this little world. I suppose that it is possible that this site will grow and evolve enough to keep people like us coming back. There's nothing like exposure to motivate and Artist.

Wow, Scotland. All of my life I had never thought much about the UK or Europe. I'm more of a "tropical island" type of guy. However, back a few years ago, I had the opportunity to go to London for a Make-up Trade show. My wife and I stayed an extra couple of weeks and I got up to Edinburgh. To say that I fell in love with it is an understatement. The people, the architecture - it was all wonderful. All I wanted was a few hundred pounds of clay and 6 months. I wanted to make a copy of Rosslyn Chappel in the worst way.

It is also where I discovered Leonardo's Grotesque drawings. It turned me from a freelance Effects artist to a full-fledged sculptor of fine art.

Anyway, glad to meet you. Your work is quite beautiful.Hope your day is great!

Rob

Hello Richard, This was actually a test and not a prank. When I was trying to think of an artist's name, Fred popped into my head. My tastes run across many decades.

I enjoyed visiting your site. You have posted some very interesting work.

Re: Dancer

might be a good prank if you took responsability for it

Re: Pedroveneroso

Pedro,
Hello again, I have been obsessed with mapping and compartmentalizing all my life, I also have a facination with humble trades, trade tools and mechanisms, and of coarse the human body, your work speaks on so many levels !
You have torn me out of my little box...you blow my mind
Thank you,
Richard
PS I have added 5 stars to a selection of your work.

Re: Jemrtb

Reply to "Well I"
Yeah, a social networking site for artists is a bit of wishfull thinking, however all sorts of people are involed in the arts, so you would think it might work, however there are serious flaws in this site...how are we ment to network when the only interconnections available are based on star ratings and "most viewed"? It would be nice if the "recent blog" part dangled more than two words before my eyes. Since we are all caught up in the visual, as a starting point it might be helpfull to me if i could see a random slide show of all the works on this site, where I could click on an image of MY choice, instead of trying to negociate through "most viewed" and "highest rated".

I live in the Western Isles of Scotland where there are no roads, Im quite isolated, my neihbors are great people, but they couldnt give a sh*t about artists issues. Is it possible artists are so self obsessed that networking is futile? I would hope not.
From my viewpoint I am oblivious what it would be like to work with other artists as you do. I was reading an article written in a DVD catalog about an animation which discussed the ability of great artists being able to recognise when to relinquish control for the sake of collaboration, some of which you speak of. How can this be applied to MYARTINFO?

thank you for your blog

Richard

Re: Mmooreart

Nice work

Re: Katarinartist

Katarzyna,
I stand like St Sebastian before your works, incredibly moved and happily bleeding. I have rated all your pieces displayed, one star for every arrow in my flesh. I only write in English but if you should respond I can attempt to read in many languages. Thank you
Richard

Re: Soirsce

Hello again, I have taken the presumptuous step of rating some of your pieces, 5 pieces with 3 stars each. It is a fairly random act on my part, and cant really decide what to make of this star rating system, however it seems to me that the ratings affect exposure and you deserve exposure. I am curious which of your own pieces you are happiest with? I hope to see more of your work in the future
Richard

Re: Soirsce

wow, real talent.

Re: Martinart

Martin,
Its so much more interesting to see a series of work, than just seeing a few isolated pieces, it gives me a whole different perspective, I find I am able to imagine where you are coming from and where you are going, in a time/space continuum. I guess what I am trying to say is "the more I see the more I like your work" I have given this collage of your work three stars for that reason. What does three stars mean? More than two I suppose.
Richard

Re: Jrphotog

wonderful

Re: Koopfilms

Nestling is my favorite of this series

Re: Mo

Monika,
I Like your work. I am interested in your thoughts.
I am currently working with multi-frame sequence art- both in photography and in painting.
I have added ratings to your work, though I dont know what stars mean.
I only write in english but I can attempt reading other languages if you wish to respond

Re: Marija

wow

Re: Everwhen

Teresa,
Thanks for returning the compliment. Its hard to know what to think of my own work, there are few moments to compare to the creative satisfaction, but these moments are few and far between, however it would be hard to relive these moment just looking at my work, I doubt I will ever manage to create something that conveys or communicates the extatic experience atained at the moment of creation. OneI must maintain the fantacy that all is possible as Gerhart Richter said something like "art is the highest form of hope". Im not sure art really attains that stature above all other forms of hope, none the less, it is things like hope and desire that inspire and drive me on and on. Yeah I do like your work- keep the faith. I really like "Andrew" "Sunset" and your untitled torso in aqcrylic but as I said I like it all
Best wishes
Richard

Re: Mercuris

Sarah,
Dont know what you are experiencing, however I use a mac and safari to access myartinfo, found mozilla wont let me access many features @ myartinfo, have litttle more results with explorer some features dont work and some dont show at all.
I have never had sucess deleating artwork always ends in error.
I have had sucess replacing artwork files by clicking "edit" and "choose a file" (make a new selection) and then click "update". Oddly two "choose file" buttons show up when I do edit artwork entries, dont know what this happens for (or why) but it does not seem to matter which button I use. Once this is done I get a notice of ERROR, despite this the changes do take effect, however you must have patience, as the results of these changes (changing/replacing an image) does not immediatly take effect- some times you may have to wait for hours for the new image to show, some times the change takes effect but the old image (artwork) persists in closeup mode, however this will eventually correct itself.
Dont know if this helps your situation...
This site is in beta state and needs much improving, try contacting the site by email let em know your problems encountered... and also give them suggestions on how to make this a usefull site for all of us.
Richard- (fellow artist)

Re: Saraallison

Hi,
I am finding myself interested in your work and curious as to your thoughts about it, seems like we have some parallel, if not sympathy, in our artistic expression. I am going to try to creat some blog about my thoughts, as concerns my artwork, in the near future I have added a 2 star rating to your work, though to tell you the truth I dont as of yet know what that means to me. Is one star good or bad ? It seems one star could be demeaning. Is a five star rating outstanding ? please take no offence at a two star rating all it means is tat I thought it would be a good gesture, Keep adding work, Id like to see more.
Richard

Re: Pedroveneroso

brilliant!

Re: Auds

Audrey, Nice work, a great study of luminosity. I have taken the liberty of adding stars to your work as an act of solidarity, please show us more!
Richard

Re: Veliaspecchio

Velia, your work is initmatly brave and beautiful! Your website at http://www.veliaspecchio.com obvoiusly gives a better perspective, without which I would be less likely to comment. I have always found that my own work which attempts to map myself through the bodies of others kinda dishonest. Working with yourself as subject with sensability and sybolism seems honest and effective in its conveyance of that which is both yourself and also universal. (if you understand what I am trying to say)
